Who is Dr. Birkan Taha Ozkan?

He started his Specialization Education in Dentistry at Selcuk University, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. He completed a part of her Master’s Degree receiving a state scholarship in the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Oulu, Finland during his Specialization . He completed his Specialization by performing a great number of Maxillofacial surgeries in Head-Maxillo-Facial Surgery at Shahid Bhaesti University, Azad University and Shiraz University Hospitals in Iran.

He started his academic life as an Assistant Professor at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University in 2009. He got the title of Associate Professor in 2014 and was entitled to the Title of Professor in 2020.

He made many innovations as an Assistant Professor at Yüzüncü Yıl University and established the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and served as the Head of the Department for a long time.

He lead to many national and international seminars and conferences and participated as a speaker and session chair. He wrote a very comprehensive book called Maxillofacial Surgery in Turkey on basis of his 11,000-page English translation and his professional experience and had it ready for publication. His “many original surgical techniques” have entered the international literature. He has 37 scientific articles published in international and national journals, and 18 presentations presented in international and national scientific congresses. He was the editor-in-chief of an international scientific journal during 4 years. He speaks English, German and Finnish as a foreign language.

He gives professional information by participating in many TV and radio program invitations on national and international platforms. Many national TV channels invite him to many programs as an expert for the purpose of conveying the correct information to the public and receive opinions.His articles are published in the local and foreign press.

He was an academician at Toros University. As a clinician, he established his own private Dental Clinic at international quality standards in Mersin in 2014. The clinic has a portfolio of international patients, mainly foreign patients from Europe and America, as well as a portfolio of patients from various cities of our country, and provides intensive services based on Dental, Maxillofacial and Facial treatments. Besides, his clinic has been authorized by the Ministry of Health in the field of International Health Tourism within the VIP Health Tourism.

The clinic serves as 2 dentistry clinics, 1 operating room, 1 pre-operative massage room, dentistry museum, rest room and post-operative rest unit. In his Clinic, aesthetic dentistry treatments, flapless implant operations, smile design and jaw aesthetics operations are performed as treatment services.

Beyond his 24 years of professional experience in the field of medicine, he has many hobbies including sports, artistic activities and technical skills. He is a licensed basketball and volleyball player. Besides he is an official member of the World Backgammon Federation, he has regional degrees in national backgammon competitions. He has received Underwater Diving Scuba Diving training. He is interested in underground shipwrecks and in this context he dives underwater in various seas of the world and our country.
He produces artistic design products on clay processing and wood carving. As a manufacturer and artist, he produces surgical hand tools in his own workshop.

He has released the album “Aşküstü Aşk” in 2014, beside he has 45 songs that he has written and performed on music at the same time. Video Clip has also been released. He plays the violin and piano for hobby. In 1997, he won the 3rd place among 60 competitors in the Turkish Classical Music solo competition organized by TRT.; He represented Turkey and won the first prize 3 timesin the International Mini-Eurovision Song Contests organized by the European Dental Students Association (EDSA) every year in Serbia, Greece and Slovenia, between 2000-2003. TRT produced and broadcast the Life Documentary with the content of Artistic and Academic Success.

He also supports Social Responsibility projects. In this context, he tried to introduce the education of our children to the highest technological infrastructure by setting up a technological class Mersin Cumhuriyet Primary School
