What is Gum Bleeding?

Gingival bleeding may start due to plaques accumulating on and around the gums. Usually, the process works like this: Gingivitis occurs. This condition is usually the result of plaque buildup on and around the teeth. This plaque buildup causes a bacteria called gingivitis to form around the gums. This plaque, which is hardly noticeable until its formation, has a transparent color. If this plaque is not noticed at the right time, it causes an advanced inflammation over time.

This situation sometimes affects the jawbone and causes periodontitis disease here. Since gum bleeding may be caused by the situation described above, it must be taken seriously and the person should be checked by a doctor.

The Possible Reasons for Bleeding Gum

We have listed some of the situations that can cause gum bleeding for you. Let’s examine.

  1. First of all, gingivitis is the primary cause of gum bleeding. Swelling, redness, transparency, and sensitivity of the gums can be a sign of this situation. Tooth sensitivity can also be seen with bleeding gums. Generally, plaque buildup on and around the gums is one of the most important causes of inflammation, because the accumulated plaque often causes bacterial growth.
  2. Take a look at the medications you use. Some medications dilute the blood, which temporarily increases the bleeding. Drugs such as aspirin are examples of this. If you tell your dentist about the situation, he will support you.
  3. Recently, various studies have been conducted showing that dental floss is not used sufficiently among the public. Inadequate use of floss can affect dental health very negatively. Healthy teeth and dental fillings should allow comfortable use of dental floss and allow the floss to go between the teeth (or the fillings). The main purpose of dental floss is to clean the surfaces between teeth or between fillings. In this way, it is possible to prevent caries, provide oral care and hygiene. Not using dental floss can cause gum bleeding. If you are experiencing various factors that affect the use of floss negatively, these may be one of the following: When the integrity of the dental filling is lost, or when the dental fillings press the gum unevenly, the area may not be cleaned easily with dental floss. In this case, tartar formation may occur in this area. Tartar formed in the gum line and gingiva causes the bacteria to harden and thicken in the relevant area. As a result of this situation, gingivitis will cause problems such as bleeding.
  4. Continuous consumption of foods with high carbohydrate and sugar content can irritate your gums. This may result in bleeding gums.
